‘The Golden Bachelor’ Fantasy Suite Recap: Who Knocked Boots With Gerry?

The Golden Bachelor made history with its first ever Fantasy Suite Week, and in case you had any doubts, 72-year-old Gerry Turner assured Bachelor Nation that seniors still “knock boots” behind closed doors.

After saying an emotional goodbye to Faith Martin, Gerry headed to Costa Rica for crucial dates with his final two ladies: Leslie Fhima and Theresa Nist. With a proposal a week away, our Golden Guy sat down with franchise host Jesse Palmer ahead of his exciting overnight opportunities to talk love, sex, intimacy, and his hopes for clarity.

“I thought by the time I retired at 55 I had all the excitement I was going to see and all the high moments,” Gerry told cameras. “Little did I know that 17 years later I’m in the greatest adventure of my life.”

After the Golden Bachelor lead made Jesse Palmer cringe over the thought of his parents having sex, the host asked, “how can I say this on Disney?” and encouraged Ger to share his feelings on intimacy. “That would be a moment I wouldn’t want to rush,” he said. But when pressed on whether he’d get physical in Fantasy Suites, the grandpa laughed and said, “Oh, sure. What are you crazy? What are you, nuts? There are moments when you’re like, ‘I’m not gonna pass this up. This may be the last time in my life.'”

“The opportunity to be physically intimate with someone, I don’t know how to ascribe an importance to it,” Gerry explained. “Let’s face it, it’s been a while. Certainly in that area I’d want to make sure her comfort level was as complete as it possibly can be. And if that leads to something more physical then that activity becomes organic and natural in its nature.”

Leslie and Gerry’s Fantasy Suite Date Recap

First up? Gerry’s big date with 64-year-old fitness instructor Leslie, who’s not afraid to talk openly about sex, but is terrified of heights. It’s a fear she chose to face head first — or rather feet first — when Gerry revealed they’d be repelling down a 170-foot cliff to a waterfall on their date. No big deal! After Leslie announced, “I gave birth three times. I should be able to do this!” the two conquered the adventure together, had a romantic waterfall make-out sesh, and headed to dinner where Gerry encouraged Leslie to ask him “the hard questions.”

Leslie’s response? “OK, I have a question for you: When’s the last time you had sex?” Gerry nearly did a spit-take before asking if she meant by himself or with someone, then he got serious and said “a long time.” Leslie said it had been a year since she knocked boots, then Gerry asked where they would live if they ended up together. “At the end of the day I love you and want to be with you,” Leslie said. “And I don’t know what that means…instead of bi-costal we can be bi-midwestern.” The answer was good enough for Gerry, who gave her the Fantasy Suite card and she accepted.

Lizzie McGuire may be an outfit repeater, but Gerry Turner is an advice repeater, because he took that weighty line Trista told him about finding the woman he can’t live without — the same advice he shared with Theresa on an earlier group date — and told Leslie. GASP!

“So I think you’re the one. I think you’re that,” Gerry said. “You get it. It’s like, I have to have you with morning coffee. I have to have you when I go to bed at night. And in between, you can have free time…but I think there’s no one else I’d rather try to figure it out with. I want to figure it out with you.” Leslie told cameras he was sure that Gerry was his person, so what do we even need a second Fantasy Suite date for?! Get these two crazy kids engaged already!

After the lights went out, Gerry turned up the heat. But first he turned down the heat, because the Fantasy Suite’s thermostat was set to 80 DEGREES! He asked Leslie if she liked the temperature at 70, to which she replied, “69,” prompting the two to reclaim their youth by giggling the night away. The morning after, they sipped coffee in bed and recalled talking until 3 a.m. about “everything.” As for the knocking boots, Gerry had this to say: “People want to know what happens in these Fantasy Suites. There’s a little bit of curiosity that they want satisfied, and quite honestly, I feel like it’s none of their [BLEEP]ing business.” So there you have it! What happens in Gerry’s Fantasy Suites stays in Gerry’s Fantasy Suites…for now!

Theresa and Gerry’s Fantasy Suite Date Recap

Gerry left his first overnight and headed straight for his romantic one-on-one with Theresa; a turn of events that nearly gave him emotional whiplash. While the two went horseback riding around Costa Rica, Gerry was visibly withdrawn, thinking back to his special time with Leslie and wondering how he could possibly compartmentalize this late in the journey. “What happens — does this day become even better than yesterday or does it fall flat?” he asked cameras. Finally, Theresa sat him down and said she understood his dilemma but wanted him to know how much she loves him.

Ahead of dinner, Gerry wondered if he and Theresa had “maxed out” their relationship because they weren’t moving forward or exploring new ground. “I have to commit to being open-minded and not prejudging or predetermining any situation, because I don’t want to miss something,” he said. And once Theresa started opening up about her career accomplishments, dating history, and the fact that she hadn’t been with anyone since her husband passed, he was back in it. The two bonded over similar connections to their late spouses and headed off to the Fantasy Suite where the lights went off in a flash.

The next morning, Gerry noted how far their relationship had come in a night, told Theresa everything she said was “a revelation, and told cameras that waking up with her felt like the first day of the rest of his life! GERRY! YOU JUST TOLD LESLIE SHE WAS THE ONE! IT’S THE FAITH DEBACLE ALL OVER AGAIN!

“All of the questions and trepidations I had about Theresa were gone in the first hour/hour and a half,” he told cameras. “Last night I told her that I love her. I can’t tell you the elation that I felt.” (We may never know who Gerry knocked boots with, but these two were definitively giving off a vibe.)

Who Does Gerry End Up With On The Golden Bachelor?

To recap: Gerry and Leslie said their relationship “significantly improved” after their night together, and Gerry said she could “certainly” be the person with whom he spends the rest of his life. But then he had his Fantasy Suite date with Theresa…

“Right now I’m dying inside,” Gerry explained after both dates. “I’m in love with both of them, and in each case I’ve told them, ‘I love you.’ With each of them I can see a life together. Life with Leslie would be a very exciting life. She’s adventurous, and she looks out for me and I look out for her. But Theresa and I have this bond. We know what the other person is feeling. We know what they’ve been through.”

As Gerry said, he has “an impossible task” ahead of him and “someone is going to come out of this situation hurt.” By the end of the episode Gerry said he’d made his decision, but we’ll have to wait until the Golden Bachelor finale on Thursday, November 30 to find out who he picks. Judging from the intense, tear-filled finale preview, the journey might not be as straight-foward as it seems.
