The Buccaneers Episode 5 “Failed Betrayal” takes Nan St. George (Kristine Froseth) and her friends back to Britain, where it’s time to celebrate Guy Fawkes Day. The holiday — which takes place every year on November 5 — is also called “Bonfire Night,” because the tradition is to burn an effigy of Guy Fawkes in retribution for the Jacobean rebel’s foiled plans to blow up Parliament. And in the lead up to Bonfire Night, another Guy, Guy Thwaites (Matthew Broome), is going to feel the heat when Nan learns about his telegram. Buccaneers fans can find out just how Nan discovers that Guy sent her a telegram spilling his secret love for her by watching this exclusive clip from tomorrow’s all-new episode of the Apple TV+ period drama.
In The Buccaneers Episode 4 “Homecoming,” a drunk and brokenhearted Guy Thwaite sent Nan St. George an impulsive telegram declaring his love. Not only did he immediately regret sending this note to the woman engaged to his best friend, Theo, the Duke of Tintagel (Guy Remmers), but he had no way of stopping it from winding up in New York City. What Guy didn’t know, though, was that Nan never got the telegram. In fact, Theo discovered it before she could. That also means that Theo knows his best friend is madly in love with his fiancée!
Luckily for us, The Buccaneers doesn’t prolong this storyline. As you can see in this exclusive Buccaneers Episode 5 “Failed Betrayal” clip, Nan learns about the telegram this week at the exact same moment that Guy finds out she never received his message.
While playing a game in a massive hedge maze, Nan and Guy find themselves on opposite sides of the same hedge row. Nan uses this opportunity to tell Guy she doesn’t think Jean Hopeleigh (Francesca Corney) is a good match for him. A confused Guy asks why Nan is so obsessed with marriage. She’s not, she says, only for him to point out her own engagement despite his telegram to her.
“Wait, what telegram?” Nan asks.
