Jenna Bush Hager Admits She “Went Too Far” After Joking About Having An Affair On ‘Today With Hoda & Jenna’: “Henry And I Are Very Happy”

Jenna Bush Hager made a scandalous joke on Today With Hoda & Jenna that she admitted may have gone a bit “too far.”

Bush Hager and Hoda Kotb were discussing an article from Bustle that recently went viral for claiming “The Thirstiest Thing A Man Can Do Is Read,” sparking a discussion about how attractive it is to see men read in public.

The Today co-hosts appeared to be in total agreement on the subject with Kotb admitting it’s “hot” to see a man read, while Bush Hager took it a step even further: “I’m dehydrated when a man takes out a book.”

“What does it tell you? You see a man with a book, sitting on a park bench in Central Park, reading, what is the first thing that you’re thinking?” Kotb asked.

Bush Hager admitted that she finds it attractive when men wear glasses, but that’s not all: “I mean, if they’re reading something I respect, that could be grounds for an affair,” she responded. She then turned to the camera and clarified, “I’m just kidding, I would never do that. I would never. Henry and I are very happy. And he reads.”

Bush Hager and her husband, Henry Hager, have been married for 15 years.

“He does read,” Kotb agreed, before asking her co-host, “Why are you [getting] defensive?”

“Because I shouldn’t have said that, I went too far,” Bush Hager admitted.

But the Today co-host chose not to dwell on the slip-up too much, and swiftly continued explaining what else makes it attractive to see a man read in public. “In nature reading, [that] gives you extra points,” she said. “Nature, plus glasses, plus book that I approve of…”

Equals an affair made in heaven?

Bush Hager has shared some hilarious anecdotes from her decades-long relationship with Henry on Today. She recently recalled the first time she asked him to buy her tampons and he treated it like a covert mission.

“When Henry and I first got together and he had to buy me tampons for the first time, I might as well have asked him to buy me illegal drugs,” she recalled. “He’s like, ‘I got the goods, I got them!’
