Kelly Ripa Refuses To Give Mark Consuelos A Complete Synopsis Of ‘NYAD’ On ‘Live’ After She Reveals He “Fell Asleep Before The Opening Credits Were Finished”: “I’m Not Gonna Tell You The Whole Movie!”

Kelly Ripa won’t let Mark Consuelos get away with falling asleep during movie night.

On this morning’s episode of Live with Kelly and Mark, Ripa shared that she and her husband watched NYAD together the night before. While she said the Netflix biographical sports drama was a “great movie,” she revealed that Consuelos snoozed right through it.

“He insisted that we put it on, and then he immediately fell asleep before the opening credits were finished,” she recalled.

Consuelos claimed he “was in deep REM,” and woke up feeling like he “slept eight hours.”

Ripa proceeded to call him out, chiding that he really did “sleep eight hours.” As she gave a brief synopsis to the audience, Consuelos had questions.

“She actually pulled it off at the end?” he asked.”I fell asleep.”

Ripa clarified that it’s “a part of history,” and that Diana Nyad even appeared on Live prior to Consuelos becoming co-host. However, Consuelos continued to poke and prod for more intel.

“She did it in her sixties, right?” he asked. “She failed in her twenties, but then tried it again.”

Ripa quipped, “I’m not gonna tell you the whole movie!”

Consuelos pleaded, “Please, please tell me!” Ripa finally let up, noting that Nyad “tried again and again and again and again.”

“She had multiple attempts,” Ripa continued, adding, “She endured a lot.”

It turns out that Consuelos’ tendency to fall asleep during movies might be an issue for him in the near future. Ripa brought up how Hollywood is “making movies that are extra long,” citing the example of the three-and-a-half-hour long Oppenheimer, while discussing the end of the SAG-AFTRA strike.

Consuels chimed in, “I can’t see that movie in the theater. I’ll fall asleep.”

Ripa teased, “You can’t see that movie at home, either!”

Consuelos claimed he has the power of the pause button on his side while at home, which Ripa refuted he never actually uses, leaving her to “sit with [the movie] for three and a half hours.”

NYAD is streaming on Netflix. Live with Kelly and Mark airs on weekdays. Check out their website for your local listings.
