Jerry O’Connell finally addressed the negative comments John Stamos made about his wife Rebecca Romijn while on his book tour.

During a recent appearance on The Talk, O’Connell said he was refusing to “feed into” the situation by bringing more attention to it. O’Connell has been married to Romijn since 2007, while Stamos was married to her from 1998 to 2005.

“My wife’s ex-husband recently wrote a biography, and it referred to my wife in a negative manner,” O’Connell said on The Talk. “And a lot of people have asked me about that in press, and it would be easy for me to say, ‘Screw you, how dare you ask me that?'”

He said that addressing Stamos’ remarks would be “bringing the attention to a situation that I don’t want to feed into.”

O’Connell added that he also hasn’t addressed Stamos’ comments because he and Romijn share two teenage daughters.

“There’s children involved, teenage children who read everything on the Internet,” he said. “So you don’t want to feed that fire.”

Stamos wrote about his marriage to Romijn in his recent memoir If You Would Have Told Me, but he also spoke candidly to People magazine about the difficult time they had near the end of their relationship.

“In my mind back then, she was the Devil, and I just hated her,” Stamos admitted. “I couldn’t believe how much I hated her, and it ruined my life.”

He also said that the public perception at the time that Romijn’s acting career was faring better than his own was “humiliating.”

“I don’t blame her for it. It was just the perception that people took, and maybe they weren’t wrong. She was doing great at that time and I wasn’t,” he told People.

Romijn has not publicly addressed Stamos’ comments about their marriage, either. But O’Connell did mention during an appearance on SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live that they listened to Stamos’ interview on The Howard Stern Show together.

After admitting there was some initial “interest” in reading Stamos’ memoir, O’Connell said, “I listened to [The Howard Stern Show.] With the person who was the subject of John’s book. And, my wife doesn’t listen to Stern. I do. So I said, let’s listen to this. And I do have to say, after listening to that interview, any interest of reading the book went away.”

O’Connell later admitted in that same interview that he “secretly read” Stamos’ book. “I have a copy that I secretly hide,” he told host Andy Cohen.
