When Will the ‘Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour’ Movie Be Streaming?

If you couldn’t get a ticket to see Taylor Swift on tour this year, you have a chance to see what you missed thanks to Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, a concert film now playing in movie theaters across the globe.

Directed by Sam Wrench, and produced by Swift herself, the film contains footage from 10 different acts of the tour and contains all the songs from her setlist. (Save for a few of those surprise songs from certain shows.) The film was recorded at the first three of six Los Angeles shows, from August 3 to 5, 2023, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. Swifties won’t be surprised to hear that it’s already set to become the highest-grossing concert film in history—and that’s before it was officially released!

Here’s what to know about how to watch the Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour movie, and what we know about when, if at all, the Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour movie will be available on streaming.

Where to watch the Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour movie:

Right now, the only place to watch the Taylor Swift Eras movie is in a movie theater. The concert film is now playing in theaters worldwide, in more than 100 countries. You can find a screening at a theater near you via Fandango.

Can you watch the Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour movie online?

Not yet. As part of the film’s distribution deal with AMC Theaters and Cinemark Theatres, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour will play exclusively in theaters for at least 13 weeks. So you’ll have until the end of the year to watch this one in theaters.

When will the Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour movie be streaming?

We don’t yet know when—or, indeed, even if—Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour will be available to buy or rent online, and we also don’t know if the movie will ever be available on a streaming platform. That said, we can make a few guesses.

If the Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour movie does become available on digital platforms eventually, it won’t be any time before January 12, 2024, given that the movie will be exclusively in theaters for at least 13 weeks, per the film’s deal with AMC Theaters. This is much longer than the typical theatrical run for movies nowadays, which are often pushed to digital by studios after a little over a month in theaters.

This is an unprecedented distribution deal, given that there is no film studio attached to the film—it’s being distributed directly by AMC Theaters. That means that unlike a Paramount movie (which would go to Paramount+) or a Disney movie (which would go to Disney+), there is no natural streaming home for Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour. That doesn’t mean that AMC Theaters won’t license the film to a streamer down the line, but at this point, we just don’t know.

You’ll sooner likely see AMC making the film available to buy or rent on digital platforms like Amazon Prime, Vudu, etc—but again, not for at least another 13 weeks. And even if the film does come to digital, it may not follow the same standards of pricing and availability. After all, the price of a movie theater ticker for The Eras Tour is a set $19.89, rather than allowing movie theaters to use their local pricing.

All this is to say: It will be a good while before Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour is available on streaming or online, if it becomes available online at all. If you don’t want to miss the film, you’ll want to catch it in theaters some time in the next 13 weeks.
