Jenna Bush Hager managed to stun Gilmore Girls star Lauren Graham during a recent episode of Today.

After Hoda Kotb declared that it was officially “Gilmore Girls season,” Bush Hager told Graham — who starred on the show as Lorelai Gilmore for seven years — that it’s become a tradition for moms to watch the hit series with their daughters.

“It is Gilmore Girls season! And can I just tell you, because I have a 10 year old, that every single mom I know is like, ‘Have you rewatched Gilmore Girls with your daughter?’ It’s a thing!” Bush Hager said.

Graham replied, “Really? At 10?!”

Bush Hager responded, “They grow up a little faster these days. Do you think she’s too young?”

The actress told Bush Hager that she understands, telling her, “No, one thing that’s great about the show is it kind of meets you where you are. And the stuff that’s a little, uh, beyond her will go over her head. And then you can rewatch it when she’s older.”

They later discussed the show’s remarkable staying power. It’s been 23 years since Gilmore Girls first premiered on ABC and it remains one of Graham’s most popular roles.

“I mean, you would never have known at the time that we would be sitting here talking about this show today, Gilmore Girls, especially. And Parenthood has a place in people’s hearts, as well,” Graham told Kotb and Bush Hager. “It’s just great writing! It’s also cozy and like a place to visit that is comforting.”

She continued, “I so appreciate the love I get back from the people who are fans, watching it over and over.”

Graham maintained that she still felt “genuinely lucky” for having starred on the show.

“If you get one of those, that’s amazing. It was such a special job to me and it gave me pretty much every job since then, so I’m only grateful,” she said.

Gilmore Girls ended in 2007 after seven seasons on ABC, but the cast later reunited for a reboot titled Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. Both series are streaming on Netflix.

Today with Jenna and Hoda airs on weekdays at 10/9c on NBC.
