The glitz of HBO’s The Gilded Age returns this week with more class warfare than ever! Also out this week on streaming are the new Showtime original series Fellow Travelers, and the new Netflix film about the opioid crisis, Pain Hustlers.

New Movies & Shows To Stream This Weekend: The Gilded Age, Pain Hustlers, Fellow Travelers + More

Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who’s the most rich and powerful woman of all? That seems to be the question Bertha Russell (Carrie Coon) keeps asking herself on The Gilded Age, and dangit, she’s determined to become top dog no matter what it takes. The Max series returns with the first of 8 new episodes on Sunday. This week on Netflix is the premiere of the new drama Pain Hustlers, in which Emily Blunt stars as Liza Drake, a pharmaceutical sales rep who gets pulled into a racketeering scandal. And over on Paramount+ with Showtime, Matt Bomer executive produces and stars in Fellow Travelers, a romantic political drama about two closeted men who fall in love and have a decades-long, clandestine relationship. New episodes of the series will stream weekly on Friday nights, followed by Sunday night broadcasts on Showtime.

Is it 1884 already? Is is on the new season of Julian Fellowes’ The Gilded Age! Fellowes has long been a master of narratives that expose ye olde timey class divides, and last season, we watched as new-moneyed Bertha and George Russell (Carrie Coon and Morgan Specter) tried to worm their way into the upper echelon of old-money New York society, only to be shut out by the likes of Lina Astor (Donna Murphy). This season, Bertha is still climbing the social ladder, but she’s gaining on Mrs. Astor quickly.

New on Netflix October 27: Pain Hustlers

Pain Hustlers is yet another look at the opioid epidemic, this time through the lens of a pharmaceutical sales rep who finds herself in the midst of a criminal conspiracy. The film, which is based on the book by author Evan Hughes, is packed with huge names, including Chris Evans, Catherine O’Hara, Andy Garcia, and Emily Blunt.

New on Paramount+ with Showtime October 27: Fellow Travelers

Fellow Travelers is a Showtime Original miniseries that’s based on Thomas Mallon’s 2007 novel of the same name. The seven-episode series revolves around the romance between two men working in conservative Washington D.C., during the McCarthy era, Hawkins Fuller (Matt Bomer) and Timothy Laughlin (Jonathan Bailey). The men are forced to lead double lives in order to hide their romance during one of the most tense political eras of the 20th century. The supporting cast of the series includes Allison Williams, Noah Ricketts, and Jelani Alladin.
