Jenna Bush Hager kicked off this week of Today With Hoda & Jenna with a whole new look and “vibe,” according to her co-host, Hoda Kotb.
Kotb could not take her eyes off of Bush Hager, who was sporting a new haircut thanks to celebrity hairstylist Chris Appleton. As the co-hosts discussed pop culture news, Kotb brought the conversation back to Bush Hager’s new look.
“When you have different hair, it does change how you feel,” she said.
“How do I feel right now? Strange? What are the vibes you’re getting?” Bush Hager asked her.
“First of all, self-conscious, because you’re not used to it,” Kotb replied. “But I also think there’s more sensuality because you don’t seem like you’re a sensual [person].”
Bush Hager’s jaw dropped in feigned shock. “I’m not a sensual person? I think Henry Hager would disagree,” she said, referring to her husband.
Kotb laughed, but doubled down on her shocking comment: “We know those girls, they always give off that vibe. You give off a friend, cool-girl vibe. And today, you’re giving more va-va-va-voom,” she said.
“You guys, now I’m extra embarrassed,” Bush Hager responded. “I’m looking at myself and I don’t recognize myself, and that’s a weird thing.”
Appleton was tasked with giving Bush Hager a new hairstyle during every commercial break on Monday’s episode. But the Today co-hosts certainly had fun with her new hairstyles. They even kicked off the episode by aiming a fan at Bush Hager during her entrance so she could enjoy her own runway moment.
“I’m scared that one of the extensions is going to fall out,” she joked.
It might be Kotb’s turn next, however. She said, “You know how we’re like, ‘I wish I had a different look, I wish I had a different look.’ I’ve said that since at least the ’80s.”
Today with Jenna and Hoda airs on weekdays at 10/9c on NBC.
