Thursday marks an important moment in Disney Channel history: it’s the day — Nov. 16, 2023, to be exact — that Zack and Cody Martin were finally able to get a dinner reservation at the “best Italian restaurant in the world” on The Suite Life of Zack And Cody spinoff Suite Life on Deck almost 15 years ago.
The Disney spinoff series saw brothers Zack (Dylan Sprouse) and Cody (Cole Sprouse) take their shenanigans to the SS Tipton, where they traveled the world with their friends while attending the Seven Seas High School on board.
The 2009 episode is now going viral after clips circulated online commemorating the hilarious scene, and making original Disney channel fans feel pretty old in the process.
In the episode, Zack and Cody try to get a reservation at a fancy Italian restaurant when the SS Tipton makes a stop in Rome. But the stressed out chef tells them they can only get them a table at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 16, 2023!
“But that’s in 15 years,” Cody responds.
Zack, a known pragmatist, asks, “What if I don’t feel like Italian that day?”
Now, that far-off date is finally here. And Disney Channel fans have not forgotten.
“We need to find out if Zack feels like Italian tonight,” one fan wrote on X.
Many fans hoped that the Sprouses would commemorate the episode somehow. “They have the opportunity to do the funniest thing ever tomorrow,” another fan said.
Others were struck by how much time had passed since the episode aired, with one fan commenting, “Don’t remind me how old we’re getting PLEASE.”
Even Guinness World Records got in on the fun, writing, “New record: longest time to wait for a reservation at a restaurant – 15 years set by Zack and Cody Martin (USA).”
The Sprouse twins have yet to comment on the now-viral moment from their childhoods. But Suite Life of Zack and Cody actor Adrian R’Mante, who played the beloved Esteban, shared a reaction video to the episode. “Who’s eating Italian on November 16th, 2023?? 🙋🏻♂,” he wrote in the caption.
Let’s hope they get to enjoy their Italian dinner.
