Hannah Montana star Mitchel Musso made headlines this summer when he was arrested in Rockwall, Texas, for public intoxication and theft.

But those charges were recently dismissed, TMZ reports.

A representative for the city of Rockwall confirmed to TMZ that the case has been dismissed, though they did not share why. Any body camera footage taken from the arrest will also not be released to the public.

Musso was arrested this past August when police responded to “a disturbance” at a local hotel, where the Disney Channel star “appeared intoxicated,” according to an Aug. 27 press release from the police department. Musso was accused of stealing a bag of chips, and allegedly “became verbally abusive” when he was asked to pay for them.

Musso was arrested for public intoxication and theft. The press release also notes that Musso had “several” outstanding warrants. He was later booked for the charges and spent a night in jail before posting bond for $1,000.

Musso previously denied any wrongdoing, chalking the arrest up to a “misunderstanding.” In a statement to Entertainment Weekly at the time, the star said that he “was absolutely not drunk or drinking, and there was 100% no theft.”

After his arrest, he gave a detailed recounting of the evening’s events and denied that he had been “verbally abusive” with the hotel staff, as Rockwall police had claimed.

“I was the one who was being verbally abused and also harassed,” he alleged to EW.

He claimed that two unpaid traffic tickets from 2019 were  “ultimately the reason why they arrested me.”

“I haven’t lived in Rockwall for years and I guess they’d been sending it to my old house there,” he explained. “And it had become a warrant and they used it against me. So since then, all of those warrants have been paid and the matter has been resolved.”

In a new statement shared with EW yesterday (Nov. 16), Musso said, “In our previous conversation, I foretold that the truth would inevitably come to light, and indeed, it has.”

The actor said that he planned to move on from this “challenging period” now that the charges have been dismissed. “Despite the less-than-ideal circumstances, my sincere wish is for the well-being of everyone involved as we move forward,” he said. “My current focus is on the completion of my upcoming album, and with the resolution of the SAG-AFTRA strike, I am now also directing my attention to forthcoming film and television projects.”

Musso then added, “Also I think it goes without saying at this point that though I was not party to a Ruffles heist, I still absolutely love me my Ruffles.”
