Kurt Russell is an iconic actor known for many roles, from his early run in Disney classics to more recent collaborations with Quentin Tarantino, and beyond. One of his more famous roles, though, is playing Snake Plissken in John Carpenter’s Escape from New York and its belated sequel Escape from LA. And now thanks to Decider’s exclusive clip from the third episode of Apple TV+’s Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, you can watch Russell in his most daring move yet: escape from the old folks home.

We’re being a little glib, of course, because the action-packed clip isn’t exactly set at a retirement community. Lee Shaw (Kurt Russell) has been essentially held prisoner for decades by Monarch, the organization he helped start that has ultimately gotten twisted into something uglier while hunting gigantic monsters known as Titans.

Towards the end of Episode 2, “Departure,” Cate Randa (Anna Sawai), May Olowe-Hewitt (Kiersey Clemons), and Kentaro Randa (Ren Watabe) tracked Shaw down to the facility. And once he revealed that he’s been under house arrest for years, suggested maybe they help him escape — and in exchange, he’ll help Cate and Kentaro find their missing father, Hiroshi (Takehiro Hira).

Picking up in Episode 3, “Secrets and Lies,” Shaw is making good on that promise. He’s also testing the practicality of Kentaro’s car insurance by smashing their way out of the complex in a rented minivan. You can watch the clip above, which is monster-free but still full of humor and action.

Here’s the official synopsis for the episode, per Apple TV+: Shaw leads the team on a dangerous mission to Alaska in search of Hiroshi. Keiko, Lee, and Billy present their findings to General Puckett.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Episode 3 premieres Wednesday, November 22 on Apple TV+. Episodes return to streaming on Fridays starting December 1.
