Southern Charm Season 9 has been extremely tumultuous so far, what with nude photos and cheating accusations and “girl code” violations and gifted dildos all coming to light through the first 5 episodes. (And that’s just Taylor Ann Green we’re talking about; there are like 10 other regular castmembers, too!)

For all the controversy, though, there have also been some heartwarming moments mixed into the storylines this season thus far. Take Episode 5 (“Party Fowl”), for example, and the moment that Shep Rose couldn’t help but tear up when he saw how happy his loyal French bulldog Lil Craig got when he was reunited with Taylor for the first time since the breakup.

We don’t normally get to see a lot of emotion from Shep, but loyal SoCharm viewers know that he’s got a tender side, too. This caring, compassionate side of Shep is put on full display in this EXCLUSIVE CLIP that Decider is psyched to premiere from Southern Charm Season 9 Episode 6 (“Family Bonds”), airing tonight at 9pm ET on Bravo (and available to stream on Peacock tomorrow). In it, a distraught Shep visits Lil Craig’s veterinarian after his dog had some difficulty breathing and found himself in the vet ER. As swelling, orchestral music is tugging at your heartstrings, Shep admits to us viewers at home that Lil Craig — who, it’s worth mentioning, has north of 100,000 followers on his @goodboycraig Instagram account — has “meant everything to me … and taught me that there’s someone other than yourself” to be responsible for. The vet cautions Shep that Lil Craig “we’re not completely out of the woods” when it comes to the dog’s recovery and, well … you’ll have to watch the rest of the clip to see how this goes.

And remember, tune in to Bravo tonight at 9pm ET (or Peacock tomorrow) to watch this latest episode of Southern Charm.
