The news of Rep. George Santos‘ alleged campaign fraud was just too tempting for The View to pass up this morning. Although the House Ethics Committee report was not initially on the day’s list of Hot Topics, the co-hosts launched right into a lively chat about Santos and his unhinged spending.

Whoopi Goldberg kicked off the discussion after Sunny Hostin suggested they “talk about it tomorrow.” Goldberg, who takes Fridays off from The View, replied, “Well, you can, but I’m here now.”

With that, the ladies launched into the “juicy” discoveries of the Ethics Committee, among them allegations that Santos “blatantly stole from his campaign” to spend over $4,000 at Hermes and make”smaller purchases at OnlyFans.” The disgraced congressman is also accused of using campaign funds on Botox and items from Sephora.

Joy Behar, who has a knack for bluntly saying what we’re all thinking, wondered, “It’s kind of stupid to do that, isn’t it?” to which Sara Haines quipped, “We had strong signs of that kind of intellectual capability before.”

She then added, “How is he not fired?! … At any job where you go on OnlyFans and swipe your corporate card, get Botox and swipe your corporate card, you are out. You get one box and you’re escorted by security. I don’t get it!”

Alyssa Farah Griffin assured Haines that Santos “will go down,” explaining, “These are blatant campaign finance violations and misappropriations of funds.”

Goldberg wasn’t as confident, telling Griffin, “But you know, we see it. Nobody goes down for it. We see all of these things and nothing happens.”

After Hostin read a legal note clarifying that Santos has pleaded not guilty to a 23-count federal indictment, Griffin joked, “You know, 23 federal indictments, that’s nothing compared to Donald Trump,” who is currently facing 91 felony charges.

While Goldberg said “it’s a shame,” she quickly admitted, “It is funny. What else can you do but laugh? There’s nothing you can do but laugh, because this is insane.”

Shortly after the House Ethics report was released, Santos shared on X that he will not seek reelection next year. He wrote, in part, “I will continue on my mission to serve my constituents up until I am allowed. I will however NOT be seeking re-election for a second term in 2024 as my family deserves better than to be under the gun from the press all the time.”

The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
